Rudy Tatum, age 79 of Gatesville, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, March 30, 2016. A memorial service is scheduled for Rudy Tatum at his and Joby’s home, 2535 FM 116 in Gatesville, on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Walter Davidson and Danny Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at the Rocking T Cemetery located at their place. Bring your horse and we will honor Rudy with arena time after his memorial service. Rudy was born on July 17, 1936 in Beaumont, Texas, to the late Rudolph C. (Pop) and Emarine Tatum. He grew up in Junction, Texas and graduated from Gatesville High School. He met and later married Joby Tiner on August 28, 1959. They resided in San Antonio and San Marcos, moving to Gatesville in 1964. Rudy was an avid Team Roper, who was well known and respected on the rodeo circuit. In 2002, his life was changed when he became a born-again Christian. Since that day, he has devoted his time and life to ministering and serving others through Christ. Through his Faith, he was prepared and strived to tell others where his final journey would lead him. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Tatum; and sister, Jane Archer. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joby Tatum; daughter, Juli Rhodes; son, Preston Tatum and wife, Sarah; five grandchildren, Jeremy Latham, Kasey Sutton, Callie Pfaff, Kirby Tatum, and Kendle Rhodes.
