Maurine Bird

Maurine Bird, 77, of Gatesville, passed away on Wednesday, May 06, 2009 at a local nursing facility. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 8, 2009 at the Smith Cemetery near Mound. The family will receive visitors from 6-8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home. Maurine was born on March 14, 1932 in Flat, Texas, in Coryell County to the late James Roy and Opal Holcomb Bird. She was raised and attended school in Flat. She married Raymond Bird in 1977. Mrs. Bird was a member of West Main Church of Christ. Maurine is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Arvol Ray Bird; a sister, Pauline Hitt; and an infant brother, Roy Bird, Jr. She is survived by a son, Dwaine Blackman and wife Diane; daughter, Cynthia Cole and husband Barney; sisters, Jadeine West and Maudeine Reneau; grandchildren, Janna Latham and husband Coy, Cris Cole, Kelly Saunders and husband Justin, and Mindy Arends and husband Sean; great grandchildren, Chelcie Latham, Riley Latham, Jacob Saunders, Sarah Saunders, Drew Arends, and A.J. Arends.
