Charles Beechly, age 86, of Jonesboro passed away Monday, April 11, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Ater Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Charles was born on September 15, 1929 in Levita, Texas, to the late Virgil and Lucy Herrington Beechly. He married his partner and soulmate, Margie McLaughlin on August 10, 1951. He worked at M.A.T.E.S and served in the Texas Army National Guard for 35 years, retiring in 1984. He was a former trustee and Past President of Jonesboro I.S.D. and a board member and currently President of Ater Cemetery Association. He and his wife enjoyed riding motorcycles and touring all over the United States. He was a farmer and rancher. His pride and joy was working the family farm and showing it to anyone that came to visit. He was preceded in death by his son, Carl Beechly in 1988. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Margie Beechly; son, Curtis Beechly and wife, Dawn; four grandchildren, Jackie Morgan and husband, Billy, Brittany Beechly, Chad Beechly, and Taylor Williams; two great-grandchildren, Cory and Carly Morgan; and numerous friends and extended family members. Memorials may be made to Ater Cemetery Association, 605 CR 195, Jonesboro, TX 76538.
