Milford Sims, age 87, of Gatesville passed away Friday, April 29, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, May, 2, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors two hours prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Milford was born on Jan. 31, 1929 in Pearl, Texas in Coryell County. He was the son of the late Edgar and Eva Pearl Boykin Sims. He grew up in Pearl and went to school in Pearl and Gatesville. He served in the US Army for three years and was discharged in 1953. He married Yvonne Tubbs on November 28, 1953. They resided in Gatesville, moving to Ft. Stockton in 1960, where he worked for Texas-New Mexico Power Company, until his retirement in 1991. They returned to Gatesville in 2004. While residing in Ft. Stockton, he was active in the Lions Club and was an avid golfer and member and deacon of First Baptist Church. He currently was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Yvonne Sims; daughter, Susan Thomas and husband, Richard of Gatesville; sister, Thelma Gaston of Gatesville; three grandchildren, Shaylyn Burnham and husband, Jesse, Shelby Flowers and husband, Seth, James George and wife, Sunny; seven great-grandchildren, Sydney, Karter, Bayley, Vance, Taylor, Tyler, and Channing.
