Ollie Ruth Jones

Ollie Ruth Jones, age 85, of Gatesville passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Flint Creek Cemetery. There is no set time for visitation. Ruth was born on November 19, 1930, in Gatesville. She was the daughter of the late Ollie and Bertha Nance Brazzil. She grew up in Coryell County and graduated from Gatesville High School in 1948. She worked for many years for the City of Ft. Gates, retiring when Ft. Gates unincorporated. She married Allen (Buddy) Jones in January of 1970. She and Allen were both active in the Gatesville Little League, spending countless hours at the ball fields. They also helped in establishing and operating the Gatesville Rescue Squad. She was Methodist and very active in the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen Jones in 2002; son, Paul Franks in 2016; daughter, Brenda Dossey in 1999; two grandsons, Matthew and Mark Short; great-grandson, Nathan Short; and brother, Cloyce Key. Ruth is survived by her son, Pat Franks and Robin of Gatesville; three daughters, Lola Ann Lam and husband, Mark of Gatesville, Paula Short of Waco, and Pam Sheets and husband, Buddy; extended family, Cindy Franks; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
