James David Waters

James Waters, age 65, of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016 surrounded by his family. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville. James was born on February 1, 1951 in Dallas, Texas to Thomas and Alice Dudley Waters. He graduated from Seagoville High School in 1969, and later graduated with a Master’s Degree in Biology from Tarleton University in Stephenville. James worked for a number of years at the HEB in Gatesville. He then went on to teach sciences at Central Texas College for 18 years. He married Luisa Cabrera on his 60th birthday in Gatesville. James loved to be outdoors hunting with his friends and his close cousin, John Willingham, but will be remembered for his passion for teaching. He participated in Civil War reenactments for 35 years and was a life time member of The Sons of the Confederate Veterans. James was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Waters. James is survived by his wife, Luisa C. Waters; mother, Alice Waters; brothers, Thomas Daniel Waters and wife, Tammy, Ted Waters and wife, Cindy; step-children, Rafael Martinez and wife, Tessa, Kiara Martinez, Hira Martinez; two step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
