George Kemmitz, Sr.

George Kemmitz, Sr. age 69 of the Slater community, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016 in Temple. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Slater Cemetery, with Rev. Wray Nunn officiating. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 7th at Scott’s Funeral Home. George was born on November 26, 1946 in Eagle Pass, Texas to the late Randolph and Nannie Myers Kemmitz. He grew up and went to school in Brady. He entered the US Army in 1964, serving in Vietnam. After his discharge, he served in the Texas Army National Guard and working at M.A.T.E.S. until his retirement in 2002. He married Ruth DeCluitt in 1977, they have resided in Gatesville for the last 28 years. He was a lifetime member of the National Guard Association. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Doyle and David Kemmitz and two great grandsons, Major and Emmett DeCluitt. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Ruth Kemmitz; six children, Debora Walker and husband, Marvin of Georgetown, Sue Graves and husband, Kevin of Loveland, Colorado, Georgetta May of Gatesville, Clint Kemmitz and wife, Perry of Flat, Barbara Daniels and husband, Cleveland of Gatesville, George Kemmitz, Jr. and wife, Erica of Clermont, Georgia; two brothers, John Kemmitz and wife, Glenda of Brady, Charlie Kemmitz and wife, Edna of Brownwood; 21 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
