Jonathan Raymond Hufford, age 23, of Gatesville, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Perry Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at Osage Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2016 at the funeral home. Jon entered this world on July 30, 1992 in Temple, Texas. He was a very happy and energetic child, always trying to put a smile on everyone's face. He enjoyed giving hugs freely to all who would have them. Jon played little league baseball and was a member of the Boy Scouts during elementary and middle school. As Jon entered Crawford High School, he joined the marching band, where he played several different instruments throughout his four years. In school, Jon continued his habits of always being the "funny guy" with his friends, who all loved him for his smile. After high school, Jon joined the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, where he very proudly and skillfully served as a Correctional Officer at the Alfred D. Hughes Unit in Gatesville. Jon truly loved his family and never missed an opportunity to say so. He is survived by his parents, Charles and Debbie Hufford of Gatesville; sister, Mikayla Hufford of Gatesville; brother, Anthony Hufford of Dallas; grandparents, Mike Sr. and Donna Hufford of Killeen; Kent and Cheryl Danner of Belton; and Donald Smith, Sr. of Ft. Pierce, FL; great-grandmother, Ruth Smith of Ft. Mills, SC; uncles, Mike Hufford, Jr. and wife, Cindy of Elgin, TX, Tom Hufford and wife, Amy of Washington Courthouse, OH, Donald Smith, Jr. of Belton, TX; as well as a multitude of cousins and friends.
