Billy Gene Buckner

Billy Buckner, age 50, of Hamilton passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at his home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Episcopal Church of Hamilton (St. Mary), 1101 S Rice St, Hamilton, TX, with Father Galen Poole officiating.. Burial will follow at Murphree Cemetery in Evant. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville. Billy was born on January 21, 1966 in Gatesville, to Rita Griggs Buckner and the late Monk Buckner. He grew up in Evant and graduated from Evant High School in 1985. He enjoyed football and golf. He married Dorothy Powers July 22, 2004. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of Hamilton. Billy is survived by his wife, Dorothy Buckner; mother, Rita Buckner; children, Wesley Buckner, Justin Buckner, Ronnie Buckner, Helen Rogers and husband, Anthony, Adam Powers, Michael Powers and wife, Ashley; sisters, Dalace McGill and husband, Tom, Jan Stovall and husband, Bobby, Faye Corrado and husband, Steve, Sharon Woodlock; brother, Wayne Buckner and wife, Brenda; seven grandchildren, David, Brandi, Elizabeth, Nathan, Jordyn, Michael, Terrah; and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Murphree Cemetery Association.
