Eddie Perry Johnson

Rev. Eddie Perry Johnson, age 94, of Gatesville passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 30, 2016 at First Assembly of God Church in Moody, 11920 South Lone Star Parkway (S. Hwy. 317), Moody, Texas, with Rev. Mike Vance officiating. Burial will follow at Lorena Cemetery. Visitation will be at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Johnson was born on April 12, 1922 in Hewitt, Texas to the late Nep Johnson and Minnie Lee Stover Johnson. He married Chrystell Permenter, and she preceded him in death. He later married Ruth Vance in June of 2011. He was a minister for 70 years, preaching at Bethany Baptist Church for 43 years. He also was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Ruth Carolyn Johnson; and sisters and brothers. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Ruth Johnson; daughter, Barbara Casper and husband, Everett; step-sons, Jeff Vance and wife, Cynthia, Mike Vance and wife, Angela; step-daughters, Katrina Perry and husband, Loyd, Cindy Newhall and husband, David, Nancy Johnson and husband, Claudio, Jeanne Dotson, Linda Day and husband, Donald; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
