Major Melvin R. Felton, USAF (Ret.)

Melvin R. Felton, 91, of Coryell City passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016 in Gatesville. Private family services will be held. Major Felton was born June 10, 1925 to the late Gilson Clifford and Sara (Rossiter) Felton in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. He attained a Master’s Degree from UTSA. He married Sylvia Anderson on June 30, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas. Major Felton enlisted in the USAF in 1943 and retired in 1966. During his military career he enjoyed Air Sea rescue and weather recon. Major Felton was a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ross Felton; and sisters, Grace Felton and Sally Butterworth. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Sylvia Felton; daughter, Diana White and husband, Dr. Marshall White of Roundup, MT; daughter, Melody Allaman and husband, Ken Allaman of Roundup, MT; daughter Virginia Taylor and husband, Michael Taylor of Coryell City; daughter, Pat Felton of Sisterdale, TX; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
