James Douglas Ford, Sr.

James Douglas Ford, Sr., age 59, of Gatesville passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016. Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ, 504 N. 13th St., Gatesville, Texas. James was born on November 22, 1956 in Gatesville, Texas to Felix Ford, Sr. and Gertrude Carolyn Smith Ford. He attended Gatesville High School, Southwest Texas University and Blinn College. He met and married Marjorie Atkinson on July 8, 1978. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecil and Theresa Smith; sister, Elayne Smith; and uncle, Otha James Smith. James leaves to cherish his loving memory, Marjorie Ford, James “Doug” Ford, Jr., Justin Ford and grandson, Jayton “Alex” Ford, all of Houston, Texas; his mother, Carolyn Strickland; his brother, Steven Strickland; and a host of other relatives.
