Sandra May, age 72, of Gatesville passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 18, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Dr. Buddy Wheat officiating. Private burial will follow at Hemmeline Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home. The family will be at the First Presbyterian Church from 12:00 Noon until service on Monday, July 18, 2016. Sandra was born on December 16, 1943 in Greenville, Texas to the late Marvin Wade Johnson and Shirley Laurette Orr Johnson. She grew up in Greenville and graduated from Greenville High School in 1961. She was a member of the Flaming Flashes. Sandra was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Greenville. She married Jon May on August 6, 1961 and left Texas for the first time in her life. After she married, she worked in the banking industry. Sandra helped put her husband through pharmacy school and she received a P.H.T. Degree (Putting Hubby Through.) She also helped put her husband through medical school. Their daughter, Kayce Lynn, was born on October 3, 1966. They moved to Temple in 1973. She was a very active member of the First Christian Church in Temple. Sandra and her brother owned a rental business. Later she was in property management in leasing and contracts. She was a hard-working mother, wife, and help-mate. She loved craft work, rubber stamping, and card making. She was very active in church activities and was a group leader in Bible Study Fellowship and Community Bible Study. She never tired of doing good for others. Sandra is survived by her husband, Jon May; daughters, Kayce Lynn Granger and husband, John; brother, Gary P. Johnson and wife, Carol; and grandchildren, Samantha Leighann Brewer and Melody Jo Granger. A special thanks to the nurses, aides, and physical therapists at Hillside Medical Lodge.
