Billie Jean Tilly, age 82, of Gatesville passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 22, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Davidson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 21, 2016 at the funeral home. Billie was born on April 8, 1934 in Fort Worth, Texas to Wayne Lee Weatherford and Lillian Christine Wright Weatherford. She lost her parents when she was 4 years old and then was raised by her adoptive parents, Ross and Gertrude Weatherford. She married Rex Tilly on May 30, 1952 in Dallas. She attended school at N.R. Crozier Tech in Dallas. She assisted her husband in the funeral home business and in the ministry. They moved to Gatesville in 1969. Billie was an employee for several years at Powell Supply in Gatesville. She also worked at Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice, Mountain View Unit, retiring after 10 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; adoptive parents; husband, Rex Tilly; sons, Ronald Tilly and Ricky; brothers, W. L. Weatherford and Ross Weatherford, Jr.; and sister, Betty Collins. Billie is survived by her son, Robert Tilly and wife, Tia; daughter, Glenna Riggs and husband, George; grandchildren, Rocky Tilly and wife, Cally, Ryan Tilly and wife, Crystal, and Luke Tilly; one great-grandchild, Cory Tilly; sisters, Edith Smith and Shirley Morris; and brother, Vernie Weatherford. Memorials may be made to the Gatesville Church of Christ, 2417 E. Main Street, Gatesville, TX 76528. The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice and a special thanks to the ladies of the Gatesville Church of Christ for all their care and time given to Billie.
