Maria Socorro “Coco” Degollado

Maria Socorro “Coco” Degollado, age 92, of Gatesville passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Gatesville. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home with visitation immediately following until 8:00 p.m. Maria Socorro “Coco” Degollado was born June 30, 1924 in Laredo, Texas to Jose and Refugio Degollado. Coco was housewife all her life. She enjoyed cooking, flour tortillas being her specialty. She also loved gardening, and had a strong belief in Jesus and the Roman Catholic Church. Her family was first; she was the “first one up and last one down”. She lived most of her life in Laredo Texas, moving to Gatesville around 2009, where she met many people and made many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernesto Lobo, in 2003; daughter, Maria Teresa “Terry” Lobo, in 2012; infant son, Luis Arturo Lobo, in 1952; and brothers, Jose Luis Degollado, Rudolfo (Rudy) Degollado, and Genaro Degollado. Coco is survived by her sons, Luis Ernesto Lobo and wife, Dolores of Gatesville and Oscar Lobo and wife, Carmen of Laredo; brother, Jose Ruperto Degollado of San Antonio; grandchildren, Jennifer Beth Davey and spouse, Bo, Travis Nathan Humphreys and spouse, Jenny, Reyna Melendez-Gress and spouse, Alex, and Jorge E. Medrano; great-grandchildren, Avery and Jaxon Humphreys, Angelina Ibarra, and Atzel “Kiko” Gress; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
