James M. Cogan, age 63, of Temple passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016 in Temple. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. James was born on June 20, 1953 in Jacksonville, North Carolina to the late James and Margaret Reese Cogan. He graduated from High School in Silver Springs, Maryland. James was drafted into the United States Army in 1972 and served for almost a year before being injured. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam. After the service, James worked in the telephone business for many years in Houston and in Washington D.C. He married San Juana Sanchez in 1996 in Robstown, Texas after being together for 20 years. James was preceded in death by parents; his step-father, Joseph Bunt; and a sister, Stephanie Atkins. James is survived by his wife, San Juana “Janie” Cogan; son, James M. Cogan; daughters, Natalie Hernandez, Christina Lynn Cogan, Angelia Sutton; brother, Ronald Bunt; sister, Lisa Smith; 10 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and sorrowing friends.
