Doris Rhoads

Doris Rhoads, age 80 of Gatesville, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016 in Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home, with Rev. Keith Dyer officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Doris was born on July 22, 1936 in Gatesville, to the late Ernest and Ophel Autrey Dyer. She grew up in Gatesville and graduated from Gatesville High School in 1955. She married Ray Rhoads on December 27, 1955. They owned and operated Rhoads Auto Parts for many years. Her husband preceded her in death on January 18, 1982. She also had worked for Powell Supply, Gatesville Messenger, and Martha McCoy Real Estate. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Gatesville. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Belinda Rhoads. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Norris and husband, Paul of Houston; sons, Chris Rhoads and wife Kerry of Sayre, OK and Eddie Rhoads and wife, Sheila of North Carolina; brother, Eugene Dyer and wife, Janis of Gatesville; seven grandchildren, Clay Rhoads, Stacy Robello, Eric Rhoads, Dusty Dossman, Coleman Rhoads, Kamryn Rhoads, and Cooper Rhoads; and four great-grandchildren.
