Wanda E. Russell, age 77 of Waco, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016 in Waco. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Scotts Funeral Home in Gatesville, Texas and officiated by Pastor James W. Menke of Trinity Lutheran Church and Dr. David Smith of Austin Baptist Association. Burial will follow at King Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Wanda was born on April 13, 1939 in Waco, Texas to the late Norris and Frieda Kellerman Faubion and grew up in Waco and Bellmead and later moved to Coryell City, Ft. Polk, Louisiana, Gatesville and back to Waco. She was educated in public schools at LaVega, Coryell City and Gatesville. She became a license vocational nurse at Gatesville Memorial Hospital in 1965. She worked at various hospitals and clinics in Gatesville and Waco. J.D. and Wanda met at the old Regal Theatre in Gatesville and it was love at first sight. They were married at St. John Lutheran Church in Coryell City on August 7, 1956. They shared 60 wonderful years together. Wanda was a kind, loving wife and mother. She was also caring to all of her family and friends and to all who met her. She will be sorely missed. Your prayers, cards, calls and visits were very much appreciated during her illness. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and all of her aunts and uncles with the exception of her Aunt Doris Fugate and husband, Paul of Woodway, Texas Wanda is survived by her husband, James (J.D.) Russell of Woodway, TX; son, David Russell and wife, Sharon of Dripping Springs, TX; son, James (Jim) Russell of Waco, TX; son, Joey Russell of Waco, TX; one granddaughter, Taralah Hennington and husband, Eric of Austin, TX; two brothers, Wayne (Bucky) Faubion and Keith Faubion of Gatesville, TX; two sisters, Joyce (Pee Wee) Floyd and husband, Bill of South Mountain, TX and Fredda Hammil and husband, John of Margate, FL; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
