Thomas Lee Carter

Thomas Lee Carter, age 71, of Gatesville passed away suddenly at home in Izoro on Sunday, September 25, 2016. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Thomas was born on September 13, 1945 in Crockett, Texas. He proudly served in the US Army during Vietnam, and still bore the scars of war at the time of his death. He married Rhonna McGaugh on April 4, 1980. He loved farming and was able to realize that dream after working all over the world for Kellogg, Brown & Root, and then in the oil fields in west Texas. He was a kind neighbor and went out of his way to help others. He loved blues music and fresh seafood. He was outside every day tending to his farm and animals. He was a sweet dad and a gentle husband. He will be missed. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers. Thomas is survived by his wife of 36 years, Rhonna “Sissy” Carter; daughter, Rachel Carter; mother, Lucy Mae Carter; five children from a previous marriage; several grandchildren; four brothers; four sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
