Simon L. Aguilar

Simon Aguilar, 72, of Gatesville passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2009. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 17, 2009 the Gatesville Church of Christ in Gatesville with cremation following. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Simon was born on February 1, 1937 in Robstown, TX to the late Eusebio and Francisca Longoira Aguilar. He married Leonor Campos on May 9, 1957 in Robstown. He worked as a farmer until moving to Roscoe where he worked for the railroad as a welder and owned his own blacksmith shop. He moved to Gatesville and later retired from Kalyn-Siebert. After his retirement, he and Leonor traveled visiting family being gone weeks at a time. He loved his family, playing poker, playingthe lottery, woodworking and gardening. Simon was a member of the Gatesville Church of Christ. Simon was preceded in death by 2 daughter-in-laws, Elizabeth Acebedo and Linda Gail Brown Aguilar and 2 brothers. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Leonor Aguilar; children, Edward Acebedo, Luis Aguilar and wife Mary, Norma Jannise and husband Michael, Linda Hope and husband Donny, Tony Aguilar and wife Edina, Simon Aguilar, Lisa Ramos and husband Luis, Jimmy Aguilar and wife Rosa, Bill Aguilar and wife Shavon, Amanda Williams and husband Charles; 3 sisters; 1 brother; 37 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
