Cois Wayne Loer, age 77, of Gatesville, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2016. Visitation will be at Scott’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Graveside Services will be held at Greenbriar Cemetery on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. A.C. Painter officiating. Cois was born to the late George Mitchell Loer, Sr. and Maudie Josephine Barton Loer on September 30, 1939 on South Mountain in Gatesville. He grew up in Gatesville and spent most of his life here. He did call a few other places home for a while but always referred to Gatesville as his true homeplace. Cois met Joyce Faye Adams in San Antonio, Texas, who would become the love of his life, and they soon married on February 17, 1958. They celebrated their 50th anniversary only four months before her passing in 2008. Together they happily raised eight children. Cois’ children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren meant more to him than anything. He cherished every moment he got to spend with them. Cois was forever trying to make great memories with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. But his love did not stop there, he adored every niece, nephew, cousin, and each family member he had. Cois never met a stranger, he made an impact on everyone that he had ever met. He had a smile and personality that people could not ignore or forget. Cois loved everything in life but loved some things a little more than others. He would spend every second fishing if he could. His family expected a new story frequently about the big one that got away. He also loved gardening, raising his chickens, and being on the go. He was always ready to go somewhere! His favorite thing was spending time with his children and grandbabies, telling stories or teaching them life lessons. He was preceded in death by his wife, one grandson, parents, two brothers, three sisters, and many extended family members. Cois is survived by six sons, Joe Loer of Gatesville, Jimmy Loer of San Antonio, Jerry Loer of Gatesville, Jack Loer of Spring, Jerry Loer, Jr of Gatesville, and John “Bubba” Loer and wife, Annie of Gatesville; two daughters, Lorri McDaniel and husband, Jim of Gatesville and Julie Stribling of Marble Falls; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Manning of Arkansas; and brother, Gene Loer and wife, Martha of Austin; as well as many nieces and nephews.
