Alice Ann “Nana” Blanchard, age 84 of Gatesville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016 in Gatesville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Kurt Fuessel officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Alice Ann was born on Jan. 21, 1932 in Mason, Texas to the late P.S. Fairchild, Sr. and Cleo Arnold Fairchild. She attended school in Belton and Jonesboro. She married her high school sweetheart, Don Blanchard on June 28, 1949. They welcomed five children into their home and they remembered her as a kind, gentle, patient, driven woman that loved them and her grandchildren passionately. She was affectionately known by all as “Nana”. She was always encouraging and rooting for her children as they pursued their many interests growing up. She worked for TDCJ at the Hilltop Unit for 17 years. She was an avid sports fan and a member of Mountain Baptist Church. Alice Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 68 years, Don Blanchard on Dec. 11, 2015; sister, Penny Nesuda; and brother, P.S. Fairchild, Jr. She is survived by her children, Vickie Collins and husband, David of Lake Jackson, Beverly Schoen of Gatesville; Randy Blanchard and wife, Debbie of Gatesville, Chris Blanchard of Gatesville; Stacy Whittenburg and husband, Ricky of Gatesville; brother, Richard Fairchild and wife, Delores; 10 grandchildren, Amanda Clarke and husband, Gary, Heath Collins and wife, Shelley, Branda Stewart and husband Charlie, Kristen Crawford and husband, Vic, Chase Blanchard, Destany Blanchard, Erin Brown and husband, Cody, Whitney Magee and husband Barrett, Mallorie Barnett and husband Toby, Chelsea Malden and husband, Coty; 17 great-grandchildren, Hunter Barnett, Shayden Stewart, Mecka Clarke, Callie Crawford, Ashlyn Stewart, Raygan Stewart, Kendal Clarke, Journey Garrett, Brody Brown, Graham Crawford, Aubrie Magee, Hadley Collins, Kophen Stewart, Paydon Garrett, Cortland Collins, Cannon Malden and Cal Ryan Magee.
