Ellen Joyce Holt

On November 27, 2016, Ellen Joyce Bridges Holt passed away peacefully at her home after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The first child of Erma Lee and Thomas Guy Bridges, Joyce was born March 17, 1939, in Waco, TX. Joyce survived polio as a small child, giving thanks to the Shriners Hospital. She was baptized at the age of nine in the Bosque River. She met the love of her life while working at Good Bite Hamburgers in downtown Waco. She and Marvin Harold Holt were united in marriage on July 10, 1954 at Edgefield Baptist Church. Together they raised four children, residing in Waco, Austin, and Gatesville. She was preceded in death by her parents; and grandson, Curtis Lam. Joyce is survived by her husband of 62 years, Marvin “Bozy” Holt; sisters, Mrs. Jean Gatlin of Hurst, Texas, and Mrs. Janell Guajardo of Pflugerville, TX; daughters, Kay Streed and husband, Ryan, Suzanne Laird and husband, Garland, and Denise Holt; son, Dremond Holt and wife, Brenda; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; as well as one aunt; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
