Carl M. Grubb, of Evant, passed away on December 10, 2016 in Waco, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Restland Cemetery. All family and friends are invited to attend. There will be no scheduled visitation. Carl was born in Purmela, Texas to the late Fred Johnson and Virginia Michael Grubb. He graduated from Gatesville High School in 1952. He married Vera Pearce on September 6, 1952. He served in the US Army during the Korean War, as a map maker. In 1969, Carl and Vera purchased and operated their first business together, Evant Grocery. They operated the grocery store for over 30 years together. They also went on to open several other businesses in and around the Gatesville area, including The Parrot, and Saf-U-Lok Storage. Carl was a 50 year member of the Bee House Masonic Lodge #550 A.F. & A.M. Carl and Vera were devoted members of First Baptist Church of Evant, where Carl was an ordained deacon, Sunday school teacher, and part time music minister. In 2012, due to health reasons, Carl and Vera moved to Gatesville and started attending Eastwood Baptist Church. On February 12, 2015, Carl lost his loving wife of 62 years, Vera. Carl is survived by his daughter, Cindy Grubb and husband, Victor Velasquez of Gatesville; son, Ronnie Grubb and wife, Casey of McGregor; sister, Helen Cox, of San Antonio; grandchildren Mindy Smith, Abbey Hunt, Clark Keller, and Bethany Baker; great-grandchildren, Reese Smith, Chloe Keller, Engel Keller, Hayden Hunt, Julian Martinez, and Lawson Hunt.
