Carrie Evelyn Harris, age 87, passed from this earth and into her loving Savior’s presence on December 27, 2016 in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Pearl Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Pearl Cemetery. There is no set time for visitation. Evelyn was born on February 8, 1929 in Pearl, Texas to the late John B. Doyle and Molly Ellen Beavers Doyle. She attended Pearl High School and graduated as Valedictorian in 1946. She married Travis Hagan of the Gatesville/Pidcoke, Texas area. They lived in Gatesville, Dallas and finally in Lubbock, Texas for many years where they raised their two children. She later married Sammie A. Harris, also from Pearl, Texas. Sammie preceded her in death on February 14, 2002. Evelyn and Sammie were longtime faithful members of Pearl Church of Christ and had many cherished friendships there. She was a strong, devoted Christian and loved to read her Bible. She enjoyed people, was very friendly and outgoing. She never met a stranger. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. For the past 14 years, she lived in Lubbock, Texas to be near her son and daughter. She was a member of Raintree Christian Church of Lubbock. She also was preceded in death by her brother, Cleburne Doyle; and sister, Elizabeth Doyle Newland. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Larry Hagan and wife, D’Laine of Lubbock; and her daughter, Debbie Hagan Dean and husband, Steve of Lubbock. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Jesse, Shelby, Jason, Brent, and Johnathan; and 12 great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild soon to be born. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt love and gratitude to all of the staff of Lubbock facilities at Crown Point, Interim Hospice, Wilshire on 4th for all you did to make Evelyn’s last months much more comfortable.
