Elizabeth Yows Young

Elizabeth Yows Young, age 101, passed away on January 3, 2017 in Gatesville, TX. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Jonesboro Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2017, at Scotts Funeral Home. Elizabeth was born on July 18, 1915 in the Ater Community of Coryell County, Texas to the late James Arthur and Myrtle Yows. She attended school in Ater and Jonesboro, and graduated from Gatesville High School. She married Paul Ray Young on November 7, 1937. They enjoyed many years together on the farm in Jonesboro, where they raised their three sons. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul in 1970; sons, Stanley Young in 2002 and Charles Young in 2016; brother, Wayne Yows in 1989; and nephew, Roger Yows in 1998. Elizabeth is survived by one son, James Young and wife, Sharon, of Harker Heights, TX; daughter-in-law, Terry Hilger Young of Jonesboro; granddaughter, Tiffany Kenney and husband, Christopher of Shady Shores, TX; grandson, Greg Young of Taylor; twin great-grandchildren, Colton and Taryn Kenney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
