Bob Beck, age 85, of Gatesville passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017 in Gatesville. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Gatesville with burial following at Ater Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Bob was born on March 29, 1931 to the late Edward and Freda Cummings Beck in the Pleasant Grove Community in what is now Fort Hood. He attended school in Gatesville and was a part of the class of 1949. He married Ruth Hale on February 19, 1949. Bob was a member of First Baptist Church and sang in the Joy Choir and the Sanctuary Choir for a number of years. Bob also served as a deacon for many years. He started working for Bob Arnold Electric at the age of 12. When he was 16, he started wiring houses on his own. After he married Ruth, he managed the W.T. Hix Hardware store in McGregor and in Gatesville. In 1961, he opened Bob Beck Appliance Service in Gatesville. He and Ruth made service calls until they were both in their early 70’s. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Ruth Hale Beck, in 2008. Bob is survived by his children, Ruth Ann Johnson and husband, Bob, Ronda Campbell and husband, Mike, Lynn Gohlke, Nancy Burns and husband, Clark, Tim Beck and Ana Jantorn; grandchildren, Laurie Johnson and Johnny Hughes, Kristi Campbell, Jeremy Johnson and Christine Daley, Clint Campbell and wife, Teri, Ryan Crawford and wife, Shalan, Emily Herzog and husband, Matt, Eric Johnson and wife, Jacki, Kerri Johnson, Jarad Gohlke and Carlee Mitchell, Irene Mak, and Alison Mak; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Judy Freeman; and a host of nieces and nephews.
