Bonnie Ruth Fowler Mitchell, age 80, of Gatesville, passed away at her residence on Thursday, August 27, 2009. Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Bates officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8:00 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. Bonnie was born July 21, 1929 in the Osage Community of Coryell County, Texas. She was the daughter of Oscar and Leona Touchstone Fowler. Bonnie was raised and attended school in Osage and in Oglesby before moving to Gatesville when she was 15. She graduated from Gatesville High School in 1946. During her lifetime she worked for United Telephone Company, Gatesville State School for Boys, and was a secretary, pianist, and organist. She was a piano teacher for many area youth for many years. She enjoyed quilting and was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers: Loyde, Leslie, Weldon, and Bill Fowler. Bonnie was a hard working, loyal, and dedicated mother who was always there when you needed her. She loved spending time with her family. Survivors include children, Pat and Jayne Mitchell of Crawford, David and Katy Mitchell of Gatesville, Kathy and Don Logan of The Grove, and Peggy and Wes Retherford of Gatesville; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Pallbearers are her grandchildren, Tina Dunlap Campos, Richard Dunlap, Kandis Logan Brown, Justin Mitchell, Lauren Logan, Whitney Kay Mitchell, Travis Mitchell; nephews, Jack Mills and Scott Mills; and her sons. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
