Wade A. McCorkle

Wade A. McCorkle, age 79, of Jonesboro passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 in Gatesville. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at McGregor City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Wade was born on January 5, 1938 in Crawford, Texas to the late Pete and Eva Mae (Light) McCorkle. He attended Crawford High School where he lettered in varsity football. He married Lynda Howard on April 15, 1955, in McGregor. Wade worked for the Rainbo Baking Company for 45 years, retiring as President of the South Texas Division. Wade loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He loved his dog, Gus. Wade also liked spending time hunting and fishing. He loved to travel, with Alaska being one of his favorites. Wade was a devout Christian. He was a member and deacon at Jonesboro Baptist Church. Wade had a strong love for his church and church family. Wade was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lynda McCorkle; parents; father in-law, Olan Howard; son in-law, Bob Flournoy; and grandson, Matthew McCorkle. Wade is survived by his daughter, LaJuanna Flournoy; sons, Ricky McCorkle, Allen McCorkle and wife, Leslie, and Randy McCorkle and wife, Janice; mother-in-law, Billie Howard; brother, Billy Ray McCorkle and wife, Louella; brother-in-law, Robert Howard and wife, Wanda; eight grandkids; three great-grandkids; and numerous nieces and nephews.
