Nathile Ivy, age 91, of Gatesville, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017 in Temple. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Matt Richard officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Davidson Cemetery. Nathile was born on July 2, 1925 in Cedar Knob community of Bell County to the late I.Y. and Sallie Baker Sims. She grew up in Cedar Knob and moved to Gatesville as a small child. She graduated from Gatesville High School in 1942. She worked for the Coryell County Clerk until 1943 and the Guaranty Bank & Trust until 1950. She was a secretary at Gatesville High School for many years until her retirement in 1987. She then joined her son in the family business at Western Auto, until 1996. She married Loyd Ivy in 1946. In 1953, they joined Eastwood Baptist Church where she was a faithful and loving member, serving as the Church Clerk until her death. She served as the treasurer for the Davidson Cemetery Association. She also volunteered at the Coryell County Museum and the Gatesville Care Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Loyd Ivy, in 1988; son, Charles Ivy, in 2015 and brother, Toby Sims. Nathile is survived by her daughter, Melba Gailey and husband, Jim of McGregor; daughter-in-law, Melinda Ivy of Gatesville; three grandchildren, Brent Gailey, Scott Ivy and wife, Deanna, and Alan Ivy and wife, Amy; and four great-grandchildren, Quinton, Coralise, Harrison and Hannah.
