Forest R. Bloodworth

Forest Bloodworth, age 74, of Gatesville passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Scott’s Funeral Home with burial following at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Forest was born on August 21, 1942 in Hardin, KY to the late James and Dola Rhodes Bloodworth. He graduated from South Marshall High School in Marshall, KY. After high school, he attended Murray State University before being drafted into the United States Army. He served from 1964-1966. Forest married Doloma Lee Chappell on April 13, 1966. They were married for almost 33 years before her death in March of 1999. Forest and Doloma had one son together, Kyle Bloodworth, and he was a stepfather “Dad” to Doloma’s children, Monty and Beverly Marlin. Forest worked as a fabricator and a welder for many years. He also drove a big rig truck for several years and he enjoyed it very much. He eventually settled in Gatesville and worked for T.D.C.J. until his retirement in 2005. Forest enjoyed many things throughout his life. He had a passion for playing the guitar and wasn’t just a player, he excelled in his musical ability and knowledge. Forest had the ability to bless all those who heard him play. As a child, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, all types of outdoor activities, and was no stranger to guns. He was a Christian that was raised in the Church of Christ and taught all his children about the Lord. Forest had the fortune of knowing and falling in love with Lupe Retana and her girls later in life. They met from working together at T.D.C.J. and began dating in 2004 to eventually marrying in 2009. The last 13 years, they brought so much joy to each other. They loved to take spontaneous trips and sometimes with no destination in mind, but were always on the lookout for a Waffle House. Forest was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doloma Bloodworth; and a daughter, Beverly Lynn Weidemann. Forest is survived by his wife, Guadalupe Bloodworth; children, Monty Marlin and wife, Jana, Kyle Bloodworth and wife, Regina, Elsa Tindell and husband, Aaron, and Leslie “The Favorite” Heidi Ortega and husband, Nicholas; 12 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and his beloved dog, Millie.
