Robert Bertie (R.B.) Beechly

Robert Bertie (R.B.) Beechly, age 88, of Gatesville, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Bundrant Cemetery. There is no visitation scheduled. R.B. was born on April 6, 1929 in Levita, Texas to the late Bertie William Beechly and Lula Jane Boling Beechly. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years. He worked for International Light Metals in Torrance, California as a furnace operator for 31 years and 5 months. After retirement, he moved back to the Purmela area. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lula Mae Huckabee, Jessie Huckabee, Maggie Edwards, Laneta Smith, and Jimmie Adams; and brothers, U.S. Beechly, Bill Beechly, and Willis Beechly. R.B. is survived by his many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and great-great-great nieces and great-great-great-nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 3919 E. Hwy. 84, Gatesville, TX 76528.
