Carl Dee Lacy

Carl Dee Lacy, age 86, of Gatesville, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Carl was born July 18, 1930 in Bee house, Texas at home to Bessie Olivia Ballard Lacy and Reed Harvey Lacy. He attended school at Bee House by way of horse back and later attended high school in Gatesville. He served in the Army Air Corps in Wichita Falls, Texas for several years, and then returned back to Gatesville. He owned and operated Peggy Lee Fashions and several five and dimes around central Texas. He was co-owner of the Wahoo factory in Gatesville. Later on in life, he married Martha Wildes Lacy and they made their home in Conroe, Texas. He owned and operated Lacy construction in Conroe. Carl and Martha would do arts and crafts all over Texas, making their own clothing and jewelry. Carl moved back to Bee House in 2008, where he raised goats and enjoyed his love of horses. Carl never met a stranger, and loved to talk. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard Weldon Lacy; son, Carl James Lacy, Sr.; daughter, Reedonna Lynn Miller; grandson, Carl James Lacy Jr.; stepmother, Lavail Bishop Lacy. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Martha Wildes Lacy; daughters, Jan Smith and husband, Tom of Gatesville and Tammy Lacy of Gatesville; grandchildren, Carl James Lacy III, Chad Lacy, Brittany Craft, Shannon Kirkham, Brad Lay, Candis Miller, Stephanie Cooper, Trey Smith, Amanda Ussery, Treavor Wolff, and Trent Wolff; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; extended family from Georgia; many friends; his best horse, Big Red; and his beloved fur baby, Scruffy.
