Mrs. Sharron Elaine Ellison, 66, of Overton, Texas, passed away on September 7, 2009 in Tyler. Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Thursday, September 10, 2009 at the Pearl Cemetery with Dr. Willie Clarke officiating. The family will receive visitors at Scott’s Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5-7:00 P.M. Sharron was born on June 9, 1943 in Gatesville, Texas to the late Mark and Pearl Blackstock Short. She was raised and attended school in Pearl until the school closed, then attended school in Evant, graduating from Evant High School. Sharron married Harold Ellison on July 3, 1959. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She and Harold lived in Gatesville while he served in the military at Ft. Hood. When he was sent to Korea she lived with her parents in Pearl. They moved to Illinois for a few years before moving back to Texas. They operated a full service station together for years on Main Street just off the square. In 1979 they went to work for Halliburton. In 1986 Harold opened a body shop and Sharron opened a custom frame shop. It was during this time that she learned to paint with oils, and loved doing her own oil paintings. In 1990 when the plant closed down, they moved to Kilgore where she became an Asset Coordinator for Halliburton. She continued in this position for 14 ½ years. Sharron was preceded in death by her parents, and her son Johnny Ellison. Sharron is survived by her husband Harold Ellison of Overton; daughter, Sherry Wipff of Christoval; brothers, Lonnie Short and wife Brenda of Eddy, Gail Short of Eddy, and Jerry Short and wife Nancy of Hamilton; grandson, Brett Wipff and wife Jennifer of Sonora; and one great granddaughter, Madyson Wipff.
