Ruth McCorkle

Annie Ruth McCorkle, age 80, of Gatesville, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Gatesville City Cemetery, with Rev. Bruce Cox officiating. Ruth was born on December 19, 1936 in Coryell County, Texas to the late Lee Love and Beulah Doyle Love. She grew up in Gatesville and graduated from Gatesville High School. She married James D. McCorkle in 1954. She was a homemaker and was known for her love of family and friends. She enjoyed baking, cooking, canning, and antiques. She was a member of the Mound Cowboy Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Minnie Love, Louise Bonora, and Maxine Wright; and brother, Lee Roy Love. Ruth is survived by her husband of 63 years, James McCorkle; daughter, Peggy Davidson and husband, Doug; son, David McCorkle and wife, Lottie; sister, Jewel Allen; and four grandchildren, Darius Stewart, James Lee McCorkle, Clay McCorkle, Dan Davidson; six great-grandchildren, Morgan, Madison, Alanna, Jaymee, Heather, and James Allen.
