Maynard R. Necessary, age 78 of Valley Mills, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Gatesville Church of Christ, 2417 E. Main, with Ministers Pat Richardson and Jim Hall officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow at Coryell Church Cemetery near Coryell City. Maynard was born on October 11, 1938 in McLennan County, to the late Roy and Lileen Burton Necessary. He grew up in Valley Mills and graduated from Valley Mills High School in 1957. In April of 1959, he enlisted in the Air Force and served for four years as a jet mechanic at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, AZ. Maynard (Shadetree) was a truck driver for Central Freight Lines for many years and was later an instructor for ATDS in Prairie Hill, retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Valley Mills Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Jessica Anne Crocker; brothers, Velton and Brent Necessary; and nephew, Corky Wade Necessary. He is survived by a daughter, Michelle Crocker and husband, Kevin; son, Russell Necessary and wife, Gina; grandchildren, Justin Crocker, Andrea Gore, Amanda Necessary, Allison Necessary; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Colton Gore; daughter-in-law, Regina Necessary; sister, Ruby Walsleben and husband, Jimmy; brother, Roy (Butch) Necessary and wife, Sherry; numerous nieces and nephews; and a longtime friend, Kim Umanos.
