Clyde Smith

Clyde Smith, age 70, of Gatesville, passed away Friday, July 28, 2017. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at King Baptist Church, located at 6730 FM 1783, Gatesville, Texas, with Rev. Tim Crosby officiating. Burial will follow at Pearl Cemetery. Clyde was born on June 28, 1947 in Ranger, Texas to the late Frank Norris Smith and Lenora Dene Freeman Smith. He served in the US Navy for four years, serving on the LSD-35 U.S.S. Monticello in Vietnam, Philippines, Japan, and Hawaii. He earned a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, and a Vietnam Campaign Medal. Clyde retired from the City of Gatesville in 2008, where he served in the Animal Control Department. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Debra Smith. Clyde is survived by his daughters, Tammy Jones and husband, Eric, Shanah Sams and husband, Troy, Casey Pruitt and husband, Jeremy; sons, Cody Smith and wife, Casey, Justin Smith and wife, Cindy; brother, Gaines Smith and wife, Mary; and 11 grandchildren.
