Bobby James Curry

Bobby James Curry, age 84, of Gatesville, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Curry Family Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, August 25, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Scott’s Funeral Home. Bobby was born on January 31, 1933 at the home place in Coryell County, Texas to the late James Malcolm Curry and Annie Viola Williams Curry. He attended school at the Plainview School, and then graduated from Gatesville High School in 1951. He married Lazane Asher on September 18, 1954 in Gatesville, Texas with Rev. C.C. Sessions officiating. He retired from Civil Service at Fort Hood. Bobby was a farmer and rancher all his life. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gatesville and was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Gatesville Masonic Lodge #197 A.F. & A.M. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Wayne Curry; sisters, Elwanda Curry Bennett and Pawnee Curry Brooks; and son-in-law, Kurtis Donald Gerdel. Bobby is survived by his wife, Lazane Asher Curry; daughter, Cindy Curry Gerdel; son, Casey Curry; grandchildren, Sky Mae Gerdel, Carson Curry Gerdel and wife, Grace, Haley Lane Curry, and Hayden James Curry; and great-grandson, Kaser Lane Gerdel.
