Joy Clawson, age 89, of the Owl Creek community passed away Friday, September 8, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Mark Kemp and Rev. Floyd Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Flint Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Joy was born to Jesse and Willie Dixon Wall on August 9, 1928 in the Owl Creek community of Bell County. She grew up in the Owl Creek community and attended school at County Line and Flat High School before graduating from Belton High School in 1946. She married Ray Clawson on Thanksgiving Day, 1947. She worked at Scott and White Hospital in Temple and later operated a fertilizer business with her husband in Moody. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Flat, Flat, Texas. Joy was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Buel, Elmon, Leamon, Leroy, and Willard Wall. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Ray Clawson; her sons, Jamie Clawson and wife, Kim and John Clawson and wife, Natalie; and five grandchildren, Charis, David, Joy Anne, Sarah, and Lena.
