Anthony Spanihel

Anthony (Tony) Spanihel age 55 of Gatesville, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Smith-King Cemetery in Mound. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Anthony was born on May 12, 1962 in Austin. He grew up in Louise, Texas and graduated from Louise High School in 1980. He graduated from Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service in Houston in 1982. He married Carla Phipps on November 6, 1982. They resided in El Campo and worked at Wheeler Funeral Home, moving to Dallas, until moving to Gatesville in 1995, working at Sheffield Funeral Home in Temple. He recently drove for The HOP transit service in Belton for five years. He was preceded in death by his father, Alphonse Spanihel; son, Marcus Spanihel; and an infant daughter, Tiffany Spanihel. He is survived by his wife, Carla Spanihel; mother, Mildred Spanihel of Louise; daughter, Stephanie Lam and husband, Dustin of Gatesville; brother, Greg Spanihel of Sherman; sister, Diana Spanihel Blumrick of Louise; one granddaughter, Joleen Lam; and several nieces and nephews.
