Dewayne Smith

Dewayne Smith, age 46 of Gatesville, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2017 at Coryell Community Church. Visitation with the family will be from noon until service time at the church. Burial will follow at Union Valley Cemetery near Gatesville. Dewayne was born on September 8, 1971 in Irving. He grew up in Belton and graduated from Belton High School in 1989. He married Julia Brooks on May 1, 1999 at the House That God Built Church in Gatesville. He was self-employed as a paint contractor. Dewayne loved and was proud of his family. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing and hunting. His main passion was coaching softball and watching his children compete in anything. He was deeply committed and growing in the grace and knowledge of God. He is survived by his wife, Julia; father, Wilfred Dale Smith and wife, Jan of Gatesville; children, Mitchell Wayne Welborn of Tennessee, Chesney Grace Smith, Grant Nelson Smith, Kinsey Ellen Smith, Jacoby Dale Smith, all of Gatesville; sister, Tammy Janelle Hayes; and step-sister, Tiffany Turner.
