Susan Archie

Susan Archie, age 61, of Gatesville, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 8, 2017. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2017 at Weaver Chapel Cemetery. Susan was born on August 15, 1956 in Gatesville, TX, to the late L.C. Roberts and Lola Ruth Graham. She grew up in Gatesville and attended Gatesville High School graduating in 1974. While in High School, Susan was a member of the High School Rodeo Team. She married Dewey Archie on October 31, 1978. Susan retired in 2012 from Ft. Hood after 37 years of Civil Service. Susan was a strong Christian, who loved reading her Bible. She loved her family with all her heart and enjoyed going to her grandkids ballgames and rodeos. Susan was a long-time member of Hay Valley Baptist Church, where she served by working in the nursery and preparing meals at the church. Susan loved reading, learning about Texas trees, and taking rides with her son down backroads. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Bill Roberts. Susan is survived by her sons, Cody Archie, his wife, Erika, and their children, Kylee, and Clancy; Justin Archie, his wife, Monica, and their children, Joli, Jacy, Mason, Madden, and J.D.; sister, Kay Coward and husband, Mike; brother, Larry Roberts and wife, Dee Ann; numerous nieces and nephews; and close friends, Jenny Miles and Katherine Phillips. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to Hay Valley Baptist Church, 3110 Hay Valley Rd., Gatesville, TX 76528.
