Lynn Ray Shelton, age 70, of Gatesville, Texas went to be with the Lord he loved on Monday, December 4, 2017. A Celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 9, 2017 at The Point Church in Gatesville. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery near Corsicana at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville. Lynn was born on September 22, 1947 in Crane, Texas to Rex and Lullene Shelton. After receiving his Bachelors of Education from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, he served in the US Air Force in Alaska. As a retired teacher, he served many throughout his career from Children-at-Risk to adults in confinement. His focus in teaching was not only the basics, but to change lives. There was rarely a day that he did not take a moment to speak encouraging words into the lives of others. He was passionate about not only teaching but changing lives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Lullene Shelton. Lynn is survived by his wife of 15 years, Wanda Shelton of Gatesville and their daughter, Aubrey Hasse and husband, John with four grandchildren, Cross, Caleb, Cobey, and Annie. He is also survived by his sister, RexAnn Herrick and her husband, Dennis with niece, Jennifer and nephew, Jeffrey; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Garrett and Barbara Smith, as well as, brothers-in-law, Garrett and John Smith.
