Owen B. Whitenburg

Owen B. Whitenburg, age 82, of Ingleside, formerly of Gatesville, passed away on October 25, 2009 at his residence. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8:00 P.M. on Friday at Scott’s Funeral Home. Mr. Whitenburg was born on October 26, 1926 in Gatesville, Texas. He grew up and attended school in Gatesville, graduated from Gatesville High School. In high school he was involved in all sports and received a football scholarship to attend the University of Georgia. He later graduated from Texas A & I in Kingsville with a BA in Engineering. He married Altha Dewberry and during their marriage they lived in several places including Amarillo, TX and Farmington, NM. He worked as a Drilling Engineer for Colorado Interstate Gas for 21 years, and later retired from Supron Energy. Mr. Whitenburg moved to Gatesville 1994 where he lived until 2003. He then moved to Ingleside, TX to be near his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Altha Whitenburg and a son, Joey Lee Whitenburg. Mr. Whitenburg is survived by his son Brad Whitenburg and fiancé Callie Harper of Ingleside; and grandchildren, Amanda and Jacob Whitenburg.
