Clancy Evetts Lawhorn

Clancy Evetts Lawhorn, age 16, of Gatesville, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017. Funeral services will be at 3:00pm on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the Gatesville Civic Center with burial following at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Saturday at Scott’s Funeral Home. Clancy was born on October 25, 2001 in Temple, Texas to Clay Lawhorn and Tammy Evetts Lawhorn. At an early age, he put his trust in Christ and was active in his youth group at First Baptist Church Flat, and also attended Mound Cowboy Church with his mother. Clancy was a sophomore at Gatesville High School. He was active with the Gatesville Fighting Hornet Band, serving as part of the band leadership and placing 3rd chair All-Region tuba. He was also involved in powerlifting, football, a member of the principal’s advisory committee, and the Friends of Rachel committee. Outside of school, Clancy was a member of Hard Bargain 4-H, serving as president of the club; he was also a Coryell County 4-H Ambassador. Clancy loved God, his family, and his friends fiercely. He would display his faith and patriotism without shame. He was a leader and a peacemaker who was always looking for the good in everyone, all while being a light to the world. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Milford and Ocie Evetts, and Donald Lawhorn. Clancy is survived by his mother, Tammy Lawhorn; father, Clay Lawhorn; brothers, Ryan Meredith and wife, Tilisa, Ray Evetts; sister, Shandi Medford and husband, Eric; grandmother, Peggy Lawhorn; nephew, Michael Meredith; niece, MaKayla Meredith; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one of the many things with which he was involved.
