Jackie Lewis Brewer, age 82, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Live Oak Cemetery. Jackie was born on December 17, 1935 in Coryell County, Texas to Arthur Lewis Brewer and Velma Lynch Brewer. He grew up in Pearl and Purmela. Jackie graduated from Evant High School and he enlisted in the US Army, proudly serving his country from 1955 to 1957. He married Bobbie Delores Robinson in September of 1958 in Hamilton, Texas. Jackie worked at General Tire and retired after 30 years. He lived in McGregor for 20 years. Jackie devoted his time to working in his tropical garden, visiting elderly friends as they declined, giving books to people who enjoyed reading. The highlight of his life was his time in the military. Jackie recognized that he had some difficult personality traits and struggled to deal with his challenges, trying always to make a positive difference in the word. He had a beautiful day on Tuesday with loving family caring for him. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter, Katy Spitzer. Jackie is survived by his daughters, Lisa Spitzer and husband, Robert, Gena McMillan Schultz, and Susan Elliott; brother, Jerry Robert Brewer; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
