Faye Blakley

Faye Blakley, age 84, of Gatesville, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jess McCabe officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Private interment will be at Pearl Cemetery. Gladys Allafaye Smith Blakley was born in Bee House Texas on February 3, 1933 to Jim and Gladys Murrah Smith. She grew up in Bee House and went to school in Pearl. She married her high school sweetheart, Joe Howard Blakley, in 1952. Faye loved to quilt and go shopping with her granddaughter every chance she had. She retired from Lone Star Gas Company after 38 years of service in 1990, to spend her retirement with family at their ranch in Pearl. Faye loved her family and friends and enjoyed attending family reunions. She was a lifelong member of the Pearl Baptist Church. She was also a tireless supporter of the Pearl Community Center. Faye is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 65 years, Joe Howard Blakley; two sons, Jimmy Todd Blakley and Joe Howard Blakey II; and brother, James Wendell Smith. She is survived by her brother, Tommy Smith and wife, Joan; granddaughter, Kally Blakley; three great-grandchildren, Jason, Adilyn and Ashur Blakley.
