David Smith

David Smith, age 68, of Gatesville, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2018 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Dyer and Rev. Matt Dossey officiating. Burial will follow at Turnersville Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral services. David was born on October 25, 1949 in Gatesville, Texas to Elmer Louis Smith and Marie Blackwell Smith. He attended school in Turnersville. He continued his education at Mary Hardin Baylor, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He married Vickie Pruitt on September 1, 1966, and she preceded him in death in 2006. He worked as an accountant for T.D.C.J. David was a member of Hay Valley Baptist Church. He will be remembered for loving his family and always being positive. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and four grandchildren; one sister; and one niece. David is survived by his daughter, Vickie Renee Barnhill; sons, David Smith and wife, Janice, Wesley Smith, Heath Smith, Cody Smith and wife, Lacy, and Shane Smith and wife, Stacey; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five nephews; and one niece.
