Harriet Ann (Vick) Davidson, age 82 of Gatesville, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Davidson Cemetery Pavilion, with Minister Loyd Hall officiating. There is no set time for visitation. Harriet was born on September 29, 1935 in Gatesville, to the late Athrell Carter and Annie Mae Northington Vick. Her early childhood was spent on her family’s farm that bordered the Bee House Creek near Pidcoke. At a young age the family moved into Gatesville and operated Vick’s Dairy for several years. Harriet graduated from Gatesville High School in 1953 where she was a majorette in the band. It was at a football game her senior year, she first saw Hiram Alec Davidson and they were married on July 21, 1955. They raised their children Hian, Hal and Holly on their ranch outside Gatesville where they spent most of their married lives. Harriet loved fashion and owned and operated Neta Yuma Dress Shop for several years, retiring in 1982. Harriet also enjoyed politics and was involved with Marvin Leath’s campaign in the 1980 election. She enjoyed coffee with her girlfriends, trips to Ruidoso, and watching an Atlanta Braves ballgame, as well as attending her grandchildren’s games. She was a member of the Gatesville Church of Christ, a life-long Democrat, and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Hy Davidson; parents, A. C. and Ann Vick; son, John Vick Davidson; and sister, Nan Vaden. She is survived by her children, Hian Davidson, Hal Davidson, Holly Jones and husband, Bobby; grandchildren, Cory Smalley and wife, Christi, Stacy Sinibaldi and husband, Nic, Chance Althoff and wife, Shelby, McKenzie Newman and husband, Chad; great-grandchildren, Kelsie, Payden, Lexie and Cadence Smalley, Dominic and Connor Sinibaldi, Caylor Althoff and Jagger Chase Newman. The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at Hillside Medical Lodge for their loving care, Kindred Hospice and Dr. Tim Maynard for his patience.
