Ralph Leo McCormick, Sr. (Mac), age 78, of Gatesville, passed away on the day of his 45th Wedding Anniversary, Saturday, January 13, 2018. Private memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018 at King Baptist Church with military honors. Ralph, commonly known as Mac, was born on July 9, 1939 in Somerville, Massachusetts to Stephen Lawrence McCormick and Mary Elizabeth Dovovan McCormick. He attended school in Lowell, Massachusetts while residing with his god-parents that raised him, George and Madeline Fitzgerald Parkhurst. He served in the US Army from 1961, until his honorable discharge in 1964. He was then employed at the Middlesex County Training School, as Headmaster on nights and Chief of Security. Ralph married Mary Jane Sanford of Lowell, Massachusetts on January 13, 1973, whereupon he entered the US Border Patrol and was stationed in Laredo, Texas. He transitioned to US Customs Patrol, also in Laredo, and retired from Falcon Heights, Texas Station as the Senior Special Agent in 1995. Ralph and Mary Jane attended Lakeshore Tabernacle in Zapata, Texas, under Pastor Jerry McSorley. While living in Belton and Moody, Texas, he was employed in security at Marlin Juvenile Correctional Facility and security guard at McLane’s in Temple, Texas. They attended A New Day Fellowship Church in Temple, where he served as an Elder and the Business Administrator under Pastor Robert Beamon. After moving to Gatesville, Texas, they attended King Baptist Church, under the direction of Pastor Charles McKamie. Ralph is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Sanford McCormick; fourteen of his fifteen children, (nine girls and six boys), preceded in death by one daughter. He is also survived by one brother, Charles McCormick of Bristol, Connecticut; many grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
